SOCIAL COMMITTEE REPORT
2006-2007

The year began with an almost traditional gardening competition. This season we chose “The longest Runner Bean in the Parish” as our theme. This was not popular, and no prizes were awarded – but we did make £66 for church funds.

On 17th June we held a Beetle Drive in the Parish Centre and raised £190. Two mini trips took place – one to a summer prom concert at Kenwood, and the other a guided tour of Clarence House, the London home of the Prince of Wales. As usual, these trips were for 10/12 people and no profit was made for the church. The annual day trip took place in September when a coach full of our church family went to Littlehampton. The weather was not kind to us, and for the most part Littlehampton was shut, but we did raise a good profit of £64.

The Social Committee sponsored a raffle at the Harvest Supper, which raised £26. We held a further Beetle Drive in December, which raised £128, and we closed the year with a visit for 26 people to see the musical Mary Poppins. This again was a purely social event with no profit to the church.

Your Social Committee for this year has been Alma, Andrina, Carolyn, Dolores, Esther, Eve, George, Hilda, Lynette, Pauline and Susanne. We will always give a warm welcome to any members of the congregation who would like to join the Social Committee and become a member of a team, which thinks about social occasions and is part of the backroom team at many of the church’s events.

Andrina Barnden
Chairman
