ST. MARY'S SCHOOL REPORT
2006-2007

"St Mary’s is a good school. Pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is good. This reflects both the Christian ethos and the school’s very positive response to the rich cultural diversity of its pupils. This is a harmonious community in which pupils show respect and a good understanding of other cultures and beliefs." (Ofsted November 2006)

"St Mary’s C E Primary School is a good school with great care and time taken to develop spiritual, moral, social and cultural values. Pupils are proud of their school and parents recognise the care and respect given to their children’s education. Staff and governors work well as a team and are developing systems that will help to raise achievement. Leadership and management are firmly based on Christian values." (Diocese of London SIAS Inspection January 2007)

The above two quotes from recent inspections epitomise the success of St Mary’s C.E. Primary this academic year.

We are now looking forward to the building of a brand new nursery which should be completed by September 2008. A Multi Usage Games Area (MUGA) which will serve as our junior playground (finally!!!) is due to be completed in November 2007.

The staff have been working hard to develop St Mary’s into a ‘Learning School’ that values creativity, innovation and individuality within a Christian context. We have adopted several very successful initiatives to support this aim.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is at the heart of the learning process for our staff and to this end we have attended and run several INSET sessions to ensure our staff are aware of current trends and government initiatives.

Our Deputy, Mrs Jean Reynolds will be leaving us to take on the Headship at Park Lane Primary School in Sept. We are justly proud of our protégé!

So, as you can see another eventful year at St Mary’s …

S E Lawrence
Headteacher
